Independent Artists Fair

A weekend to meet the cream of the crop of independent publishing, attend round tables, participate in workshops, and more.

Independent publishing takes the form of SMEs, associations, micro-publishing collectives and self-publishing. Whether it strives for rigour or embraces chaos, in Alsace, France and elsewhere, it constitutes a privileged space for creative freedom. Children’s books, abstract drawings, delicate objects, screen-printed posters, comic book fanzines and publications not to be placed in just any hands: all trends in independent graphic arts publishing are represented.

We have chosen our guests with care: come and meet them and discover their creations at the Fair! From local to international, twenty-five (micro) publishers and collectives will have a stand throughout the weekend. You will also find a selection made by the L’Indépendante bookshop and the Central Vapeur micro-bookshop.

IN PRACTICE

Admission to the Fair is free.
We recommend that you bring your cheque book and/or cash: not all of our guests have card machines, so it would be a shame to miss out! Even if you don’t want to buy anything, you are still welcome to browse, read, ask questions and take part in meetings and workshops.

BASKET WEIGHING

Each publisher or collective present will donate one of their publications to create a gift basket, the weight of which must be guessed. Place your bets at the exhibition reception desk and win everything in the basket! Results: Sunday 29 March at 6.30pm

DRINKS AND SNACKS

You will find food and drink: coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine, beer, snacks and accompaniments, pretzels, pastries and cakes.
Bar opening hours: SATURDAY: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. / SUNDAY: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

AWARD CEREMONIES

5:30 p.m. – School postcard competition prize-giving ceremony

Award ceremony and presentation of a selection of postcards created on the theme of ‘Painting’. Organised by the DAAC, Cultural Action department of the Strasbourg Academy, and Central Vapeur, for pupils aged 3 to 25.

6pm – CENTRAL VAPEUR PRIZE 2025

Remise des prix du concours d’illustration en partenariat avec Meteor, cette année sur le thème « Chiens ».  Le concours est ouvert aux adultes de toutes nationalités. Le premier prix, doté de 600 € est imprimé sur 2 500 sous-bocks par la brasserie indépendante alsacienne. Second prix 300 €, troisième prix 100 €.

Le premier concours de fauxchiens, destiné à devenir LÉ-GEN-DAIRE : Qu’iels soient en tissus, en papier-maché, fils de laine,la fourrure est peut-être fausse mais les talents sont réels ! 10 maître·sses viennent présenter leurs amis à 4 pattes (ou plus), et tenter d’impressionner le jury lors de ce défilé d’ores et déjà ICONIQUE !

Pour participer au défilé DOG RACE, inscrivez-vous au workshop : Seul·e ou en binôme, vous pourrez concevoir votre toutou et son univers avec l’aide de la designer et costumière Anna Trouillot et préparer le show !
